I have a love hate relationship with macaroni and cheese. It’s rare to find a place that has creamy, delicious and tasty macaroni and cheese. More often than not, it’s dry and bland! Don’t even get me started about boxed mac and cheese. No. Just no!!
My baked macaroni and cheese recipe has been a labor of love. I have been developing this recipe for several years now. It’s the kind of baked macaroni and cheese that is good the day of and stands up to being reheated on the next day (and the next).
I can’t stand DRY macaroni and cheese! The secret to extra creamy & cheesy baked macaroni and cheese is to make sure that you have lots and lots of cheese sauce. When you make this recipe you are going to think that you might have made mac and cheese soup instead. Trust me – those noodles soak up a lot the extra cheese!!
The tomatoes and basil round out the tangy cheesy sauce with a fresh little kiss on the tastebuds. It grounds the decadence of this dish. A fancy way of saying – it sets this shit off!
To top it all off I have added one of my favorite seasonings – Slap Ya Mama. It is spicy and tangy. It sends the taste of this baked macaroni and cheese recipe to a whole new level. Once you make it – you will crave it. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
